Move Over Gorillaz: Tim Armstrong and Tippa Lee have teamed up to form a new animated punk band with new music called The Landfill Crew.
Armstrong and crew present a cartoon band that is sure to captivate kids and “former kids” alike with slick presentation and fun music. The animation style is a throwback to the the 1960s-era Beatles animated cartoon that used to air every Saturday morning.
Animated by J Bonner, The Landfill Crew features the talents of Jamaican Dancehall star Lee on vocals, Armstrong on vocals and guitar, Kevin Bivona of The Interrupters on bass and background vocals, Dash Hutton on drums and John Morrical on piano and melodica.
“The Landfill Crew is a fictional animated punk rock band set in the 1980’s,” Armstrong wrote on Instagram. “I play one of the characters named Bagga and my friend Tippa Lee plays the character Hux.
“Tippa Lee is one of my favorite Jamaican vocalists that has been recording reggae music in Kingston since the early ’80s,” Armstrong said. “J Bonner animated the videos and helped develop the characters. Hope you guys enjoy it as much as we do.”
