Car Seat Headrest, promoting their new album Twin Fantasy, made a tour stop at the Moroccan Lounge in downtown Los Angeles last night. A ticket to see the super-popular band led by Will Toledo was tough to get as the show sold out in minutes.
But some were lucky enough to catch a rare and special performance of the band’s cover of the DEVO hit “Uncontrollable Urge” at sound check. The band had a private performance-sound check just prior to the Car Seat Headrest set, courtesy of a promotion by The New 88.5 FM.

Car Seat Headrest has recorded many albums in the band’s eight-year history, but one song is a crowd favorite: “Drunk Drivers/Killer Whales.” The tour is being performed with opener Naked Giants, who have been sitting in and playing in with Toledo’s band.
Prior to the sound check performance, Toledo had a conversation with Jeff Penfield of The New 88.5 FM. Among some of his quips he noted that popular song “Drunk Drivers/Killer Whales” had to be rewritten and cut down from six minutes to three minutes, mainly to accommodate radio play.

Earlier in the day, it was announced that Smashmouth and Car Seat Headrest have collaborated on a song that is expected to debut Thursday.
