Groove Armada has taken advantage of lockdown to put out their first song in 10 years called “Get Out On The Dancefloor.” It features a range of characters across the globe dancing up a storm.
“Get Out On The Dancefloor” is the lead single off the duo’s new album, and it features Empire of the Sun and Pnau frontman Nick Littlemore.
Groove Armada’s Tom Findlay and Andy Cato collected hundreds of pieces of Littlemore’s vocals and edited them together into something compelling and different.
“As I went through the recordings of Nick, I realized there were lots of cool phrases and great deliveries we could use,” Cato said. “It took a very long time to find the right order for them, but once we had that line ‘Get out on the dancefloor, it felt vibey. Slotting the music underneath was the easy bit!”
The catchy video features performances from Rose McGowan, Brit singer Sophie Ellis Bextor and UK drag star Davina De Campo, plus some of TikTok’s big names.
The lead single is a sneak peek into the band’s first album since the 2010 record landmark Black Light. They had a hit with the 2009 tune “Superstylin.'”
