Simon Stokes was feted the other night with a party that was beyond good. Jello Biafra, Terry Reid, Sean Wheeler and other top rockers gathered to sing some Simon songs and the man himself joined in as well.
Drummer Todd Westover gets the credit for the idea of honoring Stokes.
Simon Stokes and The Black Whip
Stokes, who was one of the early punk pioneers even reunited with his band The Black Whip and let the audience have a taste of the good ol’ days. There were stories told, like collaborating with Timothy Leary; drinks were flowing and people shared a lot of music and laughs.
The evening was co-produced by Bruce Duff, who is a longtime fan and friend of Stokes.
Also on hand were Stokes’ family members including his daughter, his granddaughters and a room full of friends.
