British hard rock band Motorhead said on Facebook that Clarke died Wednesday while being treated for pneumonia.
Clarke was the last original member of Motorhead. He joined in 1975 and left in 1982. Motorhead was founded by former Hawkwind bassist Lemmy Kilmister. The drummer was Phil “Philthy Animal” Taylor, who died in 2015 along with Kilmister.
Kilmister has a statue at his hangout The Rainbow Bar and Grill on the Sunset Strip.
During Clarke’s time in Motorhead some of the band’s biggest hits broke out, including their famous “Ace of Spades.”
