The Moody Blues founding member John Lodge will perform one of the band’s most famous albums from start to finish for two shows in Connecticut this summer.

Lodge, the band’s bass player, vocalist and songwriter, will play Days Of Future Passed at the Warehouse of the Fairfield Theater on Thursday, July 18 at 8 p.m.  On July 27, the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame recipient performs at the Infinity Music Hall in Hartford, doors at 7 and show at 8 p.m.

The first set of the night is expected to feature fan favorites, and the second set will feature Lodge performing the entire album, Days Of Future Passed, accompanied by his band.

Lodge recalled in an interview on The Moody Blues blog that The Moody Blues started out as a cover band, playing their own renditions of famous American songs, but then switched gears.

“After a while, when we were doing covers in the first 45 minutes and our music in the second 45 minutes, we realized people really wanted to hear our music,” Lodge said.

“If the song lasted six minutes, it lasted six minutes,” he said. “There were no rules. We were making our own rules. We decided our own path and adding things like the flute and the mellotron.”
