Alejandro Aranda may be on his way to winning American Idol, but if fans want him to win they have to vote on East Coast time.

On Sunday, April 21, on “Disney Night,” Aranda, the 24-year-old phenom from Pomona, dazzled the crowds and judges with “Remember Me” from the movie, “Coco.” The performance was good enough for the local SoCal musician to secure a spot among the final eight contestants.

Perry was electric herself, costumed in purple body makeup and wild hair portraying Ursula from “The Little Mermaid.”

As for voting for the popular Aranda, those on the West Coast need to vote three hours earlier and remember that the show’s votes count only on East Coast time.  American Idol starts at 5 p.m. West Coast time.

To vote for Alejandro Aranda text the number 11 to 21523 on East Coast Time.

During his Sunday night performance, Aranda kept his fans in amazement as he performed “Remember Me” in a new-style guitar arrangement.

“I can feel the emotion always coming out of you and no matter what happens I will always remember you,” Perry said to Aranda. “You will never be forgotten. This is just the beginning, trust the universe.”

Luke Bryan said he was happy to see Aranda mature musically and professionally. He also said he was following Aranda on the socials.

“You’re watching your artistry grow, from the kid who walked in and auditioned,” Bryan said. “And even I am watching your Instragram to see what you’re putting up there every night.”
