Alejandro Aranda gave to the world his heartrendingly emotional version of “Sorry” by Justin Bieber Sunday night on “American Idol,” impressing judges and earning a standing ovation from the audience.

Clearly, like the audience members, judges Lionel Richie, Katy Perry and Luke Bryan were overwhelmed by Aranda, known as ScaryPoolParty. They launched articles of clothing at the Pomona, Calif., native at the end of  his second nationally televised performance.

“The whole audition was a blur for me, I was kind of overwhelmed with the feeling that they embraced the song that I played for them,” Aranda said of his first televised ‘Idol’ performance. “This is something I’ve never done before.”

“The whole experience is kind of pushing me out of my boundaries,” Aranda said. “Going through this whole  process I want to feel more confident in my own skin. I feel like I don’t have enough confidence ’cause growing up I never had anyone to tell me to go for it.”

Aranda said he feels “most honest” when he’s on stage.

Aranda gained millions of fans after impressing the trio of judges the first time around, with his original composition, “Out Loud.” And, if he did not have anyone telling him to “go for it” when he was coming up, that certainly is not the case now as he has gained a devoted following.

Known as ScaryPoolParty to the Pomona, Calif., locals, the talented Aranda is no stranger to winning. He won a Cal State Northridge college contest back in 2017.
