The Orwells Vow to Bring Back Rock and Roll to Every Car Stereo in America – But Are We Really Ready?

Lauded Chicago Band Plays The Regent Thursday, SD on Friday

By DONNA BALANCIA

You’ve got to hand it to young guys who say they want to bring back Rock and Roll to every car speaker in America.

That’s what The Orwells want to do, they say, and it’s a noble endeavor.  After hearing The Orwells, who play Thursday at The Regent, you get the feeling this high-energy band will accomplish that goal single-handedly.

The Orwells have been the subject of a lot of praise in the music world.

The members are Mario Cuomo on vocals, Dominic Corso and Matt O’Keefe on guitar, Grant Brinner on bass, and Henry Brinner on drums.  Cuomo rips with some monstrous appeal on vocals.

These guys from Chicago write about what they know.  That’s mostly about growing up in Chicago and pretty much anything that comes to their young and devilish minds.  They’re enthusiastic and fun.

The Orwells are promoting the new 13-track album Terrible Human Beings, which touts some cool songs that are pretty straight out including “They Put a Body in the Bayou,” “Creatures” and “Black Francis”

Check out Terrible Human Beings here.

No Parents and The Walters open for The Orwells at The Regent on Thursday, and The Walters open for The Orwells at The Irenic in San Diego on Friday.
